What to check in a boiler service quote

Ask what the service includes, how long the visit is likely to take and whether you will receive a written service record. The price can vary with the boiler and the work included, so check the total charge before you book.

• Does the price include the full service, call-out charge and VAT, where applicable?
• Will you follow the boiler manufacturer’s servicing instructions?
• Will you agree any repair or replacement-part costs with me first?

Before you book

Follow your boiler manufacturer’s service schedule and check any warranty conditions. For gas work, check that the engineer is Gas Safe registered and qualified for your appliance.

If you also need a landlord gas safety check, ask for it separately and confirm which paperwork is included. If your boiler has stopped working, describe the fault and request a repair rather than a routine service.
